The purpose of this assignment is to assess your listening skills for some major areas of pronunciation--word stress, sentence stress, and end-of-sentence intonation.   You will be asked to listen to a clip and then to write or select the best answer.

Your answers should reflect your current level of skills.

 1.  Listen and then write the focus word in the sentence.

 
 2.  Listen to the audio below, and mark the choice that shows the syllable that receives the most stress for the word 'investigation'. (CAPITALS=most stress)

 
 3.  Listen to the following dialog, between Jane and John, and write down the TWO words  that get the most emphasis (ONE word for Jane's sentence and one word for John's sentence).
