The purpose of this assignment is to assess your listening skills for some major areas of pronunciation--word stress, sentence stress, and end-of-sentence intonation.   You will be asked to listen to a clip and then to write or select the best answer.

Your answers should reflect your current level of skills.

 1.  Listen to the audio recording below, and mark the choice that shows the syllable that receives the most stress for the word 'analyze'.

 2.  Listen to the recording. Does the speaker's voice rise or fall in pitch at the end of the sentence "What do you want to have for dinner"?

 3.  Listen to the audio recording. Does the sentence sounds finished or unfinished?

 4.  Listen to the question below and choose the answer that would be the correct response. (CAPITALS=most stress)

 5.  Listen and then write the focus word in the sentence.
